Providing Sensible Representation With Attention To Details

William J. Godfrey believes in providing an abundance of information for his clients. He wants his clients to clearly understand the charge they are facing. He gives them insight from the moment of arrest, to the charge for the crime and on through the possibilities of outcomes in court. He informs his clients when they have a right to a jury trial. He wants to be sure his clients know he is contending for their best outcome before that jury.

Georgia's First Offender Act

If a person has never been convicted of a felony in any state and is not facing a drunk driving charge, serious crime against a law enforcement office, serious violent or sexual offense, Mr. Godfrey may be able to negotiate sentencing under Georgia's First Offender Act (O.C.G.A. §42-8-60).

If a first offender is sentenced under this act, but is able to successfully complete the sentence, the person will not have a conviction and the charge will be sealed from their official criminal history.

Other programs are available, and upon careful review of the qualifying charges, Mr. Godfrey negotiates for dismissal of charges for those who successfully complete a Pretrial Intervention Program (PTI) or Pretrial Diversion (PTD). Give Mr. Godfrey a call at 229-299-5092.
